saturday walk

i am seriously falling in love with where i live.  on saturday we went on a beautiful walk at the perrine memorial bridge in twin falls.  i soaked up every ounce of the perfect fall weather and could not get over how gorgeous the scenery was.

i don't think there is anything hotter than seeing david with hazel.  he is such an amazing dad.
while we were there we even got to watch bridge jumpers.  seeing people jump off the bridge was amazing yet terrifying.  i held my breath every time they jumped as i waited for their parachute to open.
it was a perfect saturday.  the best part of moving is discovering all the newness around me.  how did you spend your weekend?

on the move again

well it is official, we are moving to twin falls (kimberly) at the end of the month!  david's company promoted him and are having him get the business going in the twin falls area.  on monday we had a horrific experience house shopping but luckily found something: we found out yesterday we got approved for the home we wanted.  now if we can just get this baby to come... it is looking like she'll be staying past her due date.

2011 in retrospective

David and I started 2011 in Arizona. David's sister Jenny and her family came up to visit for the new year; it was a blast to have a week with family. Later in January David's brother, Anthony left for his mission.

We spent the month of February enjoying perfect Arizona weather. At the end of February we made the big move from Arizona to Idaho. We have really enjoyed life in Idaho but still miss Arizona a lot.

Recently after moving to Idaho I had some health problems that took me a while to learn to deal with and feel like I now have under wraps.

We very much enjoyed our mild Idaho summer. We went camping, attended my Saxton Family Reunion, celebrated our one year anniversary and even made it to the Western Idaho Fair.

In September we were excited to find out that we are expecting our first child. For me September, October and most of November are a complete blur as I was very sick with "morning sickness".

In October we moved from our tiny 550 sq. foot apartment into a house. We are in an older home with lots of character and a lot more room. We are lucky to have a full attic with lots of storage space. Not our dream home, but it is sure nice to be in a house rather than an apartment.

November brought the biggest Thanksgiving I have ever had; we celebrated with nearly all or my mom's side of the family. We had to reserve my grandma's church because we wouldn't all fit in one house.

We had a nice low key Christmas which was a great way to end the year!

arizona in idaho

one thing i really miss from arizona are all the beautiful citrus trees. especially the lemon trees. i always told david that if we owned a house in arizona we had to have a lemon tree in our front yard. they are so beautiful and add a lovely splash of color. mmm and they smell so sweet. not to mention how tasty fresh arizona lemons, oranges and grapefruits are... . . i think one of the harding moving adjustments was coming from beautiful warm arizona weather with citrus trees full, flowers blooming and sun shining to cold, snowy, brown, icky idaho weather. the other day i was really missing the sun and to my delight clients at work brought in bagfuls of fresh arizona produce they brought back from a trip. all week i have been feasting on delicious, juicy, arizona oranges and grapefruits. it has made idaho weather a little more bearable. . . enjoy your friday, kira . post edit: what is going on??? now blogger won't give me any spaces!!! am i just technologically challenged or is this an issue with the website? i have never had trouble like this before!

back in the gam state

here we are in idaho! the past month has been a busy blur but we are starting to feel settled. david started work the day after we moved here and i started work just two days later, so we didn't have much time to rest and unpack. we have now been here a month and i am starting to feel adjusted enough to start blogging again!

back from the dead

i am finally feeling better after an almost two week long sickness. thank goodness.
.
monday {valentines day} i still wasn't feeling completely up to par so we decided to have a low key valentines day. dave picked me up from work and surprised me with a rose and chocolate. we had a pizza pic-nic in the park, complete with martinellis as you can see. we played our new favorite game: nerts. (thanks v).
.
we have been busy busy busy this week getting ready to move. That's right, we are moving back to idaho! we have had a great time here in arizona and have met some amazing people but we are excited to go back home.
.
enjoy your saturday,
k

clean freaks

right now i am in the process of moving {(again) gotta love single life}. my roommates are also all moving out so my landlord decided to hire a cleaning crew to come in and deep clean the apartment before new tenants move in. he should have waited a little longer to have the cleaners come in because trying to pack and having people come in and clean around your packing is not the best experience. i started with my packing and so i had my possessions sorted into what i want to go in each box. well, i left town for the weekend and came home to find my house a little too clean. the cleaning people put everything i had sorted in various random locations in the house thinking (well, i don't know what they were thinking) they were being helpful. Now I get to go back through all of my things and sort and box them again. not only that, but i am really curious what they were doing when they cleaned the shower. i was in the shower and suddenly the shower door (the sliding kind) collapsed on me. it was a heavy door! it was definitely an adventure trying to fix the door while i was in the shower, wet, shampoo in hair (and eyes). sheesh.

hope you are having a lovely monday,
kira

nog

i can't believe i am actually posting this picture by choice--it is hideous--but sadly it is one of the only pictures i have here in arizona so far. even though i despise the picture, i love the story behind it.

as a preface, this picture was taken early in the morning on a grocery store run to buy milk. i had literally just crawled out of bed. i was wearing no makeup. i had not showered. i had not done so much as comb my hair.

as a second preface, it is impossible to find egg nog in arizona. i know it might seem a little early, but i am a huge egg nog lover. in idaho they start busting out the egg nog in october in cool halloween cartons. that is not the case here. when my sister told me one day that she had bought egg nog in idaho dave and i went on a search. we searched everywhere and had no luck.

okay, so now the story:
dave and i ran to the local bashas' to buy some milk and things for his family for breakfast. (one of the funnest things about moving, i think, is going to new grocery stores. i know. i'm a nerd). dave and i split up in the store to quickly get the things we needed. i was waiting at the front of the store for dave when he comes running up like a little boy on christmas morning. he found egg nog! it really was so cute to see how excited he got because he found something he knows i love.

and now a quick arizona update:
everything is great. my job. my roommates. the weather. everything. i feel like i am pretty well adjusted and am truly enjoying myself.

hello arizona

after the long and adventurous drive from boise to phoenix i have arrived in arizona. if the drive isn't bad enough on it's own, imagine it in a 25 foot long moving truck which has a max speed of 70 mph. MAX speed. the trip truly was an adventure. apparently they aren't allowing any trucks or vans to cross the hoover dam so we got to take a detour through california on a two lane highway in the middle of nowhere. the scenery consisted of tumbleweed, sage brush, and tornado looking dust storms. i entertained myself by watching carefully to see if any vultures where swooping around.
.
we arrived in mesa on saturday night. we quickly unloaded my stuff at my new house (my house is super cute and my new roommates are way nice. i will post pictures soon) and then headed to maricopa to see dave's family. this weekend is the first time i have met his family. i was really nervous but things went great. his family really is way cool. i spent the weekend with his family and then came back to mesa on tuesday morning. i went in for a job interview on tuesday morning and was hired on the spot. i started working today. i am working for the same company i did in idaho but i get paid more and have better benefits.
.
i am really loving it here in arizona so far. i feel so blessed because everything is falling into place.

last week

hello my loves. it sure has been busy around here. sometimes i sure am envious of sabrina the teenage witch; i wish i could nod by head or snap my finger and have boxes packed, messes cleaned and and cute new outfits worn. yesterday i spent the entire day packing packing packing. i have just three more days and then i'm off to arizona! besides the packing it has been a fun week of picture taking, (finally got some polas) tennis playing, and goodbye saying.

i'll be sure to check in at least once more before i leave.

random thoughts

hello there.
once again i have become a lame blogger these days, but in my own defense i have been quite a busy girl. did i tell you that i am moving exactly two weeks from today? two weeks. that is crazy. so much to do. i guess i better start filling all the boxes i have collected. this week i went dumpster diving for the first time in my life. for boxes. it really was quite an adventure. i actually got inside a dumpster. what is a girl to do when there is a perfect box in the far corner? don't worry though, it was a 'clean' dumpster, if that is possible, and i went home and showered immediately.
.
besides moving though, there were a few things i wanted to tell you about:
.
the book pictured above being one of them. last week dave and i went on a date to urban outfitters. i know, we're silly. we actually went downtown to go to the farmers market and discovered that due to art in the park last week (which i went to and was awesome) most of the vendors opted out of thursday night farmers market. so, there we were downtown already and decided to shop around. we sampled blackberry ketchup (gross) from one of the four vendors actually at farmers market, we looked at cool handmade dishes, we went to anthropologie, and we got lost in urban outfitters for a few hours. i must say, it ended up being my favorite date of ours. we browsed at clothes and furniture and art and cameras and books. we found a personality book and sat down on one of the oh-so-stylish couches and read about our personalities. very enlightening. but back to the above pictured book. they sold this book and i immediately wanted it. such a clever way to document your life. pre-made lists for all sorts of things: places you have travelled, places you want to travel, restaurants you like to eat at, etc. such a kira book! and they even have a website!
.
also, i have to brag. this week i made one of these bracelets. i had never made anything like it before and it ended up being so much fun. i really wish i had a reason to make more. hmm...maybe christmas?
.
i also wanted to say that i am excited for general conference coming up in a couple weeks and in preparation have been reading all of the talks from last conference. i have really felt blessed in doing so.
.
i have also been a running fool these days. i am proud to report that i have gone running all but one day this week. it is so fun to watch my endurance build as i continue to push myself further and further each day.
.
i will now conclude my super long post. i will try to get in some good blogging before i move because things might be kind of crazy for a while once i get there.
.
until next time,
k

polaroids. pic-nics. packing.

seeing all these polaroid pretties really makes me want to bust out my own polaroid this weekend.
i also think this weekend i should go for an end up summer pic-nic.
and i should probably squeeze in some laundry.
and packing.

september list + an announcement

i just love september. i really think it is my favorite month. the perfect mix of fall and summer fun. i have a whole list of things i want to do this month:
.
.
have i told you yet this is my last month in boise? yep, i am moving to arizona on october 2nd. it will be a big change, but a good change. i am just happy that my last month here is my favorite month. there are a few other things i want to do this month before i leave:
.
eat here
and see this movie here
.
hope you have a lovely weekend,
kir

another move

have i mentioned that i moved....again? last week i moved out of "the house" and into an apartment with my sister, keisha, and friend/former roommate, vanessa. we moved into a townhouse style apartment which has cheaper rent and is closer to work and school for all of us. even though we moved somewhere with less square footage there seems to be more space... probably because there are half as many people living in that space. as good as i have become at moving, i am really hoping it will be a long while before i have to do it again.
.
enjoy your saturday,
k

is it summer yet?

first of all, i need to apologize. i have been THE WORST blogger ever lately. sorry.
.
secondly, can i just say that i am so over the snow? i have been trying really hard to enjoy it, but commuting to work causes me to spend more time hating rather than embracing. on monday morning i woke up nice and early to a blanket of fresh white snow. because of the blanket of beautiful white snow i spent four hours in the car driving to and from work. four hours! tuesday it was the same story. yesterday i left home extra early because i wasn't sure how long the drive would take me. it took me half and hour, which meant i got to work an hour early. aye aye aye.

okay, enough whining.
.
in other news, i am officially moved into my new house and am loving it. my roommates, alexis, vanessa, kaylene, heather and melissa, are the greatest. i am also adjusted to my new job and am loving it also! the pay is not anywhere close to what i was making in texas, but it is decent for idaho. plus i do get the opportunity to earn commission and i haven't been doing too shabby in that department.
.
so, even though life has been hectic and the snow has been driving me nuts i am managing to squeeze in some fun! i promise that i will make an effort to be a more active blogger!
.
until next time,
kira

updates updates updates

first of all, just let me apologize...i have been the lamest blogger ever lately! but in all fairness i have been pretty darn busy, and it looks like there will be another busy week to come! i just got a new job (yay! finally!!!) and will be doing training this week. also, this weekend i am planning on starting the moving process.....again. luckily not cross country this time but rather just cross city. i am going to be moving in with a bunch of girls from my ward. even though i have been super busy i have managed to squeeze in a lot of fun: a boise state basketball game, 8 games of bowling (dollar bowling night!), a game of tennis, a girls night complete with muddy buddies and sisterhood of the traveling pants 2, a few sessions of hip hop abs, a surprise birthday party at applebees, and a white elephant gift exchange. so that's my week in a nutshell!!! stay tuned for new job and moving adventures!

a fat man, a tatto man, lots of unpacking and a giveaway

well, here i am--back in idaho. i felt such an intense mixture of emotions as i was leaving texas, but now that i am home i feel very much at peace. yesterday was a little bit like christmas for me because i found all sorts of treasures that i had left at my parents house. winter clothes and shoes (you just don't need to wear uggs in texas), jewelry and purses, scrapbooks...so much fun going through everything.

getting here was really quite the adventure. the man i sat next to on the airplane should have purchased two tickets because he was sitting in two seats. his and at least half of mine. he sat next to the window and i had the isle seat, which i am very grateful for because if it were reversed i probably would have been stuck to the window for forever. at one point the man "squeezed past me" to put something in the overhead compartment. he had a little bit of trouble squeezing past and ended up sitting on my lap. awkward and uncomfortable. i was never so happy to land. i peeled my arm off of his sweaty arm and was on my way.

unpacking was another adventure. i was determined to get everything unpacked yesterday and doing so involved 2 trips to walmart, a trip to walgreens, office max, home depot, target, fred meyers, and sam's club. i never knew it could be so difficult to buy hangers and closet organizers.

but here i am, unpacked and ready to go!

and things are looking good, i got some digits my first night in town---from a salesman working in the cell phone kiosk who just so happened to have arms covered in tattoos--- i'll just take his number as a compliment.

hope you are having a lovely wednesday,
kira

p.s. my sister is having a giveaway which you should definitley check out. she is giving away an apron and a summer tote. go get in on the fun here.
