friday night philosophy

i am currently reading a little emerson and wow--he has got me thinking. i have been thinking a lot about words, thoughts, and actions and their connections. Check it out: words and language were created as a way to try to express what we feel on the inside. words are just symbols. sometimes we have thoughts or feelings that can't even be translated into words. actions are a better form of communication because actions are thoughts in motion. according to emerson, "action is the perfection and publication of thought." (his words are much more eloquent). we've all heard the saying 'actions speak louder than words.' that's because actions are the purest form of communication. that's as far in as emerson dove in, or at least as far as i've read. bUT it hit me that we should really pay attention to our actions because they can tell us a lot about our subconscious minds. and sometimes when we figure out what is going on in our subconscious mind we can consciously overcome obstacles that our subconscious mind may have put in our way as a form of protection. (our own little survival mechanism) ever wonder why you do the things you do? well, every action is preceded by thought. our body does not make a single movement without thinking about it first, whether consciously or subconsciously. in thinking about all this i was actually able to discover a lot about myself, and now that my conscious mind is on to my subconscious one i can fix a few tweaks in the ever so flawed human life that i live.
